Meet Matt Saathof
Matt has been in the building industry for over 18 years, starting his career with a high-quality mentality and strong work ethic, he continues to be known for today. He was awarded Apprentice of the year in his region and second in the Nationals, before working his way up to Foreman and Project Manager.
This skillset led him to project manage and build everything from multi-million dollar homes and commercial developments, to a Papua New Guinea missionary complex and the Fijian airport upgrade.
Lover of the surf, fishing and family-focused lifestyle, Matt and his family moved to the BOP to begin Totara Construction. The name harks back to the line of forestry workers in Matt’s family, and is an ode to the ethos of the business. With a Double Diploma in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying, on top of his building qualifications, Matt brings a unique viewpoint to any build and is able to spot any challenges before they arise.
